Thomas Moser Chest

This is a five-drawer chest was built by Thomas Moser. When it arrived for its face-lift the patient was showing its age. Years of use, exposure to ultra-violet rays, and accumulated dust and dirt had left this piece a shadow of its former glory.
The first step was to sand the piece down to bare wood. After this the ravages of everyday wear and tear were addressed. Gouges and dents are steamed out when possible, eliminating the need for Dutchman or filler. Scratches and minor dents are eliminated in the sanding process.
After completely stripping, sanding, and repairs are complete, the finishing process begins. The customers choice of finish can make a radical difference in the look of the piece. A piece stained dark Walnut can become a lighter Maple or Golden Oak hue. A lot of this change is dependent on the type of wood used in the original construction, but a dramatic metamorphosis can occur.
