WOOD &
FINISHES
Cherry
Once
used only in high furniture styles of the 18th and 19th centuries,
cherry is equally elegant for a Windham Farm Table or Cannonball
Bed. When finished only with natural tung oil, the years ripen the
cherry wood to an even richer cherry color.
Maple
Maple
is a light-colored, close-grained, and exceedingly hard and strong
wood. The maple tree—along with its unparalleled syrup—is
a staple of Vermont and a staple in many of our pieces.
Tiger
maple
Striations
that run perpendicular to the grain make tiger maple as unique and
strident as its namesake. Used extensively during the 18th and 19th
centuries, tiger maple is now—in both its hard and soft forms—as
rare as the tiger itself and commands a premium price.
Finishes
Our
standard finishes include natural tung oil, antique tiger maple,
tiger maple, and cherry. Our finisher will also work with you to
develop a custom finish or match an existing finish in your home.
More
stylized, the paint finishes include black, blue, and green over
barn-red, a style straight from Colonial times. The over color is
rubbed at what would be high-traffic areas on legs and surfaces,
letting the barn-red beneath peek through.
Milk
paint, heavy distressing, and crackle finishes are also available.
